The Grant Village Visitor Center draws its name from President Ulysses S. Grant, who signed Yellowstone National Park into existence in 1872. Established during the 1970s on the shore of Yellowstone Lake’s West Thumb, the visitor center houses general park information, a bookstore, and a unique exhibit that explores the role of fire in shaping Yellowstone’s landscape. The center is open daily 9 AM to 6 PM from the park’s spring/summer opening through early October. Call (307) 242-2650 for additional information.
